Happy Father’s Day!

June 14, 2013

Here’s to the guy who would put my little ponytail in a rubber band  when mom wasn’t around to do my hair. You might not have perfected hair styling but you are perfect in every other way.

Happy Fathers Day, to one amazing guy!

I love you

79180803d6aa2e008f33f2c21d382a16 I want to thank all the honorable young men and women, who sacrifice their lives to protect us on a daily basis – a special shout-out to Lt. Stuebe who is currently serving overseas in the United State Marines! One day of honor seems like such a small gesture, in comparison to what they have done for our country. This weekend we raise our flags in remembrance, gratitude, and with the knowledge, that their lives, and what they have done for us, will never be forgotten.

Cheers to a fantastic summer!

You know what makes me extra happy?  Outdoor engagement sessions. There’s just something about spending the day frolicking around the wilderness with your honey that seriously melts my heart.  And when that outdoor engagement session is captured by the oh so talented Hudson River Photographer , it makes a girl want to scream! I am so excited to work with J + B for their September wedding that is being held at a private residence in Greenwich, CT. Below is a sneak peek of the gorgeous couple and their adorable Golden Retriever, Pedro.View More: http://hudsonriverphotographer.pass.us/jennifer-baron

Three Jane NY: The Map Necklace

May 2, 2013

A few weeks back I met with the amazing designer, Katie Schloss of Three Jane NY . We hit it off so well that our “quick” meeting turned into a few hours. I couldn’t get enough of her fabulousness so we decided to collaborate on some up coming events ( you’ll have to check back in to find out)!

After going over some of her most favorite pieces, it was clear that The Map Necklace was something I had to get my hands on. The fact that I met my husband on the corner of 23rd and 3rd while hailing a cab was the perfect reason why I needed this necklace. How does it work?  Pick any address in the world and have it engraved onto a 14K gold plate with a tiny diamond marking your exact location. I personally only wear all gold jewelry so this was just another reason why I loved this! Below is a picture of me layering my Map Necklace with my Gold Bean Necklace from my rock-star husband (my husband and family call me Bean).

photoFor brides, the The Map Necklace is the perfect gift to give to your bridesmaids.  I personally love the idea of giving each bridesmaid a different gift that resonates with her personality. Whether you met in college or traveled around the world together, you can personalize each necklace so it has meaning to both of you. The Map Necklace is also another awesome gift for grooms to get their soon to be brides. You can have it personalized for where you met, the church / ceremony location of where you’ll be getting married or even where you’ll be honeymooning. Oh and brides, what about Map Cuff-links for your future hubs? And lets talk about how adorable the packaging is!

So… no need to worry about matching your bridesmaids gifts with one another. Break the rules, (without breaking the rules) and get your bridesmaids something unique and different. Make sure you check back in for our upcoming photo-shoots and trunk shows featuring all of Kate’s amazing work and in the meantime, get to shopping!

Words Wednesday {New York City}

April 3, 2013

To be a New Yorker, you have to live here for 6 months, and if at the end of the 6 months you walk faster, talk faster, think faster, you’re a New Yorker. ~ Ed Koch

Yesterday morning it finally hit me…New York City is, has been, and always will be the greatest city on earth and the fact that this is home, is pretty remarkable!

Happy Wednesday.

Interview With Wedding Dress Designer- Sareh Nouri

March 29, 2013

A few weeks ago I was able to sit down and chat with the incredibly talented designer, Sareh Nouri. When I first saw her dresses I knew I had to meet the master mind behind such talent. Using her Persian roots she has created some of the most unique wedding dresses and her Spring 2013 line is to. die.for.  Take a sneak-peek below! Shall we get started?

1. Were you born in Iran? Where did you spend your childhood? When did you move to the United States?   Did you design in Iran as well?

I was born in Tehran, Iran. I spent my early childhood in Tehran and moved to the United States at the age of 9. Most kids wanted to be a doctor, nurse, or a teacher but I always wanted to be an artist at a young age. I got my early inspiration in art from a famous Iranian painter Abbas Katouzian who was my teacher and mentor.

2. What is the inspiration behind your 2013 collection?

The Spring 2013 collection is inspired by Vintage Fairytale with a touch of sparkle! I created amazing ball gowns that incorporate romantic and ethereal skirts with embellished bodices. The gowns are embellished with delicate flow of fabrics such as tulle, luscious silk organza and French lace. The combination of color, lace, and texture make the dresses unique and romantic.

 3. Being a native of Iran, how much do your Persian roots influence your designing?

My Persian roots have a great influence on my designs.  I travel to Iran frequently and continuously get inspiration from the Persian patterns. Working previously as an artist with Persian calligraphy also gives me great motivation to come up with unique patterns for my sashes and gowns. The elaborate beading on my sashes is a great example.

4. You formed your bridal company from the frustration of not finding the perfect dress for your own wedding back in 2009, are you surprised by the tremendous growth of Sareh Nouri Designs?

I really worked very hard to get to where I am today but the results really paid off so far and have been a great motivation to continue. The growth of my designs in general was amazing and I hope that it will continue in the years coming!

 5. What piece of advice would you give to brides who are trying to find “THE DRESS?”

The best piece of advice I can give a frustrated bride is to be patient.  A wedding gown is an emotional purchase and can take some time to find.  The second piece of advice I would give is to do your research, but stay open-minded.  We must remember that just because the gowns look gorgeous in a magazine doesn’t mean that we will fall head over heels in love when we try one on. Pick the styles you like (sleeves or no sleeves, full or slim-fitting, trumpet), but it could change once you try them on! In the end you will benefit by finding “the one”.

Sarah Nouri dresses can be found at the following CT & NYC wedding salons as well as on our favorite wedding website, Carats & Cake:

A Little Something White – Darien, CT

Kleinfeld Bridal- New York, NY

Happy Easter!
